Last Updated: February 28, 2026
1. Introduction
1.1. Welcome. Welcome to StillsLab (the "Site"), available at stillslab.com.
1.2. Scope. These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your relationship with the Site Administration ("Administration", "we", "us") and set the conditions for using all services and materials available on the Site.
1.3. Acceptance. By using the Site, registering an account, or browsing its content, you ("User", "you") fully and unconditionally agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is an integral part of these Terms.
2. User Accounts
2.1. Registration. Access to certain features of the Site may require registration. You agree to provide current and truthful information during registration (pseudonym, email address).
2.2. Account Security. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activities that occur under your account.
2.3. Unauthorized Use. You agree to immediately notify the Administration of any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Content and Copyright
3.1. Purpose of the Site
StillsLab is an informational, educational, and research resource. Images from films, series, and other audiovisual works (the "Materials") are posted on the Site for the purposes of criticism, commentary, scholarly research, and to assist in finding references.
3.2. Fair Use Doctrine
We believe that the use of Materials in limited quality and for non-commercial educational purposes falls under the Fair Use doctrine in accordance with international copyright law.
3.3. Sources of Materials
The Materials on the Site are sourced from the public domain, created by the Administration, or submitted for placement by copyright holders or members of the creative teams.
3.4. Disclaimer
The Site Administration does not claim ownership of the copyrights to the Materials unless otherwise stated. All rights to the original audiovisual works belong to their respective owners.
4. Copyright Infringement Notice (DMCA Procedure)
4.1. Filing a Notice. We respect the intellectual property of others. If you are a copyright owner (or an authorized agent) and believe that any Material on the Site infringes your copyright, please send us a notice to [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright".
4.2. Required Information. Your notice must include:
- Evidence that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on their behalf (e.g., documents proving ownership).
- A clear identification of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
- The direct URL to the page on the Site where the disputed Material is located.
- Your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email).
4.3. Our Response. Upon receipt of a properly formatted notice, we will review it and, if the infringement is confirmed, remove the disputed Material within a reasonable time. We are open to dialogue and strive for a mutually beneficial agreement.
5. User-Generated Content (Community Showcase)
5.1. Eligibility. The Site allows eligible Users (Subscribers) to upload their own Materials through the Community Showcase feature. Access to this feature requires an active paid subscription plan (see Section 8).
5.2. Warranty of Rights. By uploading Materials to the Site, you warrant that you are the creator or have all the necessary rights to do so, and that you are not infringing on the rights of third parties.
5.3. Responsibility. You are solely responsible for the content you upload. Uploading frames from films, series, or other works that you do not own or have rights to is strictly prohibited.
5.4. AI-Generated Content. If your project contains AI-generated content, you are required to clearly indicate this. Uploading AI-generated content without proper disclosure is prohibited and may result in project removal.
5.5. License Granted. By uploading content, you grant the Site Administration a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute this content on the Site and its related media (including promotional materials and social media), with mandatory attribution to you (your pseudonym).
5.6. Ownership & Removal. You retain all ownership rights to your uploaded content. You may request removal of your content at any time.
5.7. Review. All submissions are subject to review by the Administration before publication. The Administration reserves the right to reject or remove any submission without explanation.
5.8. StillsLab Studio Workspace Content. All working content created within the StillsLab Studio team workspace — including but not limited to shot lists, call sheets, kanban boards, logistics data, scheduling, and location coordinates (collectively, "Workspace Content") — is private and confidential. Workspace Content is not published to the public Community Showcase and is accessible only to the project owner and the Users that the owner has expressly invited into that project. The Administration does not display Workspace Content publicly and treats it as confidential information of the project owner.
6. Code of Conduct and Prohibited Actions
6.1. Prohibited Actions. On the Site, it is forbidden to:
- Insult other users or the Administration.
- Post spam or unauthorized advertising.
- Use the Site's Materials for commercial purposes without prior consent from the Administration.
- Engage in activities that could harm the reputation or normal operation of the Site.
6.2. Enforcement. Violation of these rules may result in a temporary or permanent block of your access to the Site.
6.3. Prohibited Conduct & Anti-Scraping Policy
You are strictly prohibited from using any automated systems, scripts, bots, spiders, scrapers, data-mining tools, or software extensions to access, extract, index, download, clone, or "harvest" any portion of the Site. This includes a total ban on the automated extraction of movie stills, proprietary metadata, custom tagging matrices, layout structures, and database compilations. Copying, duplicating, or redistributing any content from StillsLab for commercial purposes, or wrapping it into competing platforms, is strictly forbidden, regardless of whether credit or attribution to StillsLab is provided. Any unauthorized batch-downloading without explicit written permission will result in an immediate technical ban and legal action.
7. Age Restrictions
7.1. No General Restriction. The Site does not have a general age restriction; however, some Materials may contain scenes intended for an adult audience (based on the original work's rating).
7.2. Age Confirmation. By viewing content on the Site, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age or are viewing it under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
7.3. Artistic Context. The Administration considers Materials containing violence or nudity as part of an artistic work with cultural and educational value.
8. Paid Services (Subscription Plans)
8.1. Free Core Features. The core functionality of the Site (browsing, searching, and viewing stills) is free of charge.
8.2. Subscription Plans. StillsLab is offered as two product lines: a membership for the library and platform tools (a free tier plus paid Pro), and StillsLab Studio — the production workspace, sold on per-seat plans (a free tier plus paid Solo, Team, and Studio, and a custom Enterprise plan). All paid Studio plans include everything in Pro. Enterprise and bulk/partner purchases for film schools, courses, and large teams are arranged at custom pricing via a private invoice through Paddle; these Terms otherwise continue to apply. Current plans, seat counts, and prices are shown on our Pricing page, and full plan and licensing details are set out in the Subscription Terms.
8.3. Payment Method (Paddle). The payment system for paid subscription plans is Paddle, which acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles billing, taxes, and payment processing for all paid subscription plans.
8.4. Detailed Terms. The detailed terms and conditions governing paid services, including pricing, upload limits, cancellation, and data retention, are set out in the Subscription Terms, which form an integral part of these Terms.
8.5. Modification. The Administration reserves the right to modify subscription pricing and features with reasonable advance notice to active Subscribers.
9. Changes to the Terms
9.1. Changes. The Administration reserves the right to change these Terms at any time. The new version of the Terms becomes effective upon its publication on the Site.
